UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — Maya Valmon set a new school record in the 300 meters to highlight Maryland's performances on Saturday at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. In addition to Valmon's performance, the Terps also saw four additional top-10 all-time performances on the day.
Valmon captured the new school record in the 300 meters recording a time of 37.29 seconds. She previously held the fifth-fastest time in school history in the event. A graduate student, Valmon also ranks second all-time at Maryland in the indoor 200 meters and eighth in the indoor 400 meters.
Taylor Riley completed the 600 meters at a mark of 1:32:62 placing her sixth all-time in the indoor record book.
Eva Rogers secured seventh all-time in the school record book after posting a time of 9:35.88 in the 3000 meter race and finishing in first place for the race.
Jennessa Wolfe moved up the top ten list up to eighth all-time in the high jump after recording a 1.76 meter finish in the event
Lucy Scothern hit a personal record in the mile with a time of 4:56.27 placing ninth overall.
Bryce Hatcher also clocked a personal-best time of 7.64 seconds in the 60 meters and qualified for the final.
Other notable performances for the Terps at Penn State included Tolu Akinduro who took third in the triple jump (12.74m), Armanie Coleman who placed fifth in the 60 meter dash finals (7.57 seconds), Ella O'Neall who took fifth in the shot put (14.18m), Naaema Robinson who took third in the 200m (24.56), Jasmine Davids who placed fourth in the 200m (24.79), and Armanie Coleman who placed fifth in the 200m (24.82).
Several Terps also competed at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational hosted by Navy. Roman Spikes posted Maryland's second fastest all-time mark in the 200 meters with a time of 21.21 seconds.
Other notable performances at the Brown Invitational included Simi Balogun in the 200 meters (7th, 25.69), Ellie Keefer in the 3,000 meters (5th, 10:22.19), and Anna Marie Tretola in the 3,000 meters (9th, 10:35.66).
The Terps will return to action next Friday and Saturday in New York as they compete in the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational hosted at the famed Armory Track and Field Center - one of the premier indoor track and field facilities in the United States.
