Schaller, Spanos, Kolar, Dodge Named to 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men's lacrosse standouts Will Schaller, Eric Spanos, Eric Kolar and Henry Dodge have been named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Tuesday. The award is presented annually to the top player in college lacrosse.

Schaller, a senior close defenseman and the 2025 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, entered the season as a USA Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American after earning 2025 USILA First Team All-America and NCAA All-Tournament Team honors. He started all 18 games last season, leading the team with 23 caused turnovers while adding 31 ground balls, and played a key role in Maryland's run to the NCAA Championship game.

Spanos, a graduate attackman selected to wear Maryland's prestigious No. 1 jersey in 2026, was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason Third Team All-American. A 2025 USILA Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection, he led the Terps with 36 goals and 19 assists last season, earning NCAA All-Tournament Team honors while helping Maryland reach the national title game. Spanos, the 64th player in program history to surpass 100 career points, enters 2026 with 119 career points and 81 goals.

Kolar, a senior short stick defensive midfielder, was named a 2026 USA Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American after earning 2025 Second Team USILA All-America and Third Team USA Lacrosse All-America honors. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and former Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Kolar appeared in all 18 games in 2025, totaling 13 caused turnovers (third on the team) and 10 ground balls. He posted multiple career-high performances throughout the season, including three caused turnovers in the NCAA Championship game, while playing a key role in defensive efforts that held opponents well below their scoring averages during Maryland's postseason run.

Dodge, a senior faceoff specialist and transfer, adds to the Terps' presence on the watch list after earning preseason All-America honorable mention recognition. The 2025 America East Faceoff Specialist of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection at Vermont, Dodge posted a nation-leading 71% win rate at the faceoff X last season and averaged 8.5 ground balls per game, ranking fourth nationally. In his Maryland debut, he went 12-for-14 at the X with a team-high six ground balls against Loyola.
