No. 3 Terps Move to 5-0 With 16-12 Win Over No. 14 Princeton

Kori Edmondson and Keeley Block combined for eight goals in the Terps’ fifth win of 2026.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Kori Edmondson and Keeley Block each scored four goals in No. 3 Maryland's 16-12 win over No. 14 Princeton at SECU Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Five Terps netted multi-goal games — including a Kristen Shanahan  hat trick — as Maryland moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2022. Edmondson recorded a first-quarter hat trick during Maryland's seven-goal first quarter. Princeton scored the first two goals of the afternoon, but the Terps responded with a 7-0 run and never looked back in their fifth win of the season. Lauren LaPointe scored twice in the win while JJ Suriano made six saves. Block's four-goal game featured her 100th-career goal. She scored four goals in the opening quarters as Maryland built a 9-3 lead. Princeton went on a 4-0 run to end the first half, but the Terps took a 9-7 lead into the break. Shanahan and Lexi Dupcak both scored in the Terps' three-goal third quarter. Edmondson scored her fourth of the day as Maryland took a 12-9 lead into the final quarter. Shanahan sealed her hat trick early in the Terps' four-goal fourth quarter as Maryland closed out its 19th straight win against Princeton (1-2). How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
  • Princeton scored in the opening minute to open the scoring. 
  • The Tigers took a 2-0 lead on Maggie Bacigalupo's second goal of the opening minute.
  • Block's 100th-career goal got the Terps on the board five minutes in.
  • Edmondson tied the game a minute later with her eighth goal of the season. 
  • The Terps claimed their first lead on Edmondson's second goal in 60 seconds.
  • Dupcak's goal of the season extended Maryland's run to 4-0.
  • Edmondson's hat trick put the Terps up 5-2.
  • Block and Shanahan added back-to-back goals as the lead grew.
  • Princeton got its third goal to end the Terps' 7-0 run. 
2nd Quarter:
  • Block secured her hat trick as she opened the scoring in the second quarter.
  • Block's fourth goal of the game put Maryland ahead 9-3.
  • Bacigalupo scored twice in a 4-0 Princeton run that cut Maryland's lead to 9-7 at the half.
3rd Quarter:
  • Shanahan opened the second half with her second goal of the day.
  • Dupcak scored her second of the day early in the quarter.
  • Edmondson's fourth of the day put Maryland ahead 12-8.
  • The Terps took a 12-9 lead into the final frame. 
4th Quarter:
  • Shanahan and LaPointe scored goals in the opening minute as Maryland took a 14-9 lead. 
  • Princeton reached double-digit goals with 10:44 to go. 
  • LaPointe buried her second as Maryland reclaimed a five-goal lead. 
  • Emma Abbazia's first of the day put the Terps up 16-10 with 8:51 to play.
  • Back-to-back Princeton goals cut Maryland's lead to four goals with four minutes to play.
  • Maryland closed out the 16-12 win.
Multi-Point Terps:
  • Block (four goals) earned her 30th-career multi-goal game and her 38th-career multi-point game.
  • Edmondson (four goals) tied her career high with four goals, recording her 45th-career multi-goal game and her 47th-career multi-point game. 
  • Shanahan (three goals, two assists) recorded her 17th-career mulit-goal game, her seventh-career multi-assist game and her 23rd-career multi-point game. 
  • LaPointe (two goals, two assists) scored multiple goals for the 15th time in her career, tallied multiple assists for the fourth time, and had multiple points for the 16th time. 
  • Dupcak (two goals, one assist) recorded her second-career multi-goal and multi-point game.
Taming the Tigers:
  • Saturday marked the 24th all-time meeting between Maryland and Princeton, with the Terps winning 21 of the previous 23 games. 
  • Maryland improved to 13-1 in College Park against the Tigers.
  • The Terps have won 19 straight against Princeton.
  • Maryland's biggest win in series history was a 19-9 victory in 2022.
Home Cooking:
  • Maryland is 180-12 (.937) at home under Reese, with eight undefeated home campaigns in the last 12 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).
  • The Terps have only ever lost two conference home games under Reese.
