COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland volleyball head coach
Adam Hughes announces the addition of Fran Bolletino and Michael Ma as assistant coaches, the team announced March 27, 2026.
"It's great having Fran back in College Park," said Hughes. "He began his journey here as a volunteer in 2016, and I've always enjoyed watching him grow along his coaching path. When we had an opportunity, he was one of the first people I reached out to. Fran is a great connector, has a tremendous volleyball mind, and is as diligent, hard-working, and loyal as they come. I know our student-athletes are going to thrive working with him."
Bolletino arrives in College Park following a successful stint as Head Coach at IMG Academy, where he led the 18U team to the program's first-ever USA Volleyball National Qualification and a top-five finish in the Florida high school rankings.
Prior to IMG, Bolletino served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for both indoor and beach volleyball at Tennessee Tech for three years. During his tenure, he helped guide the program to its most successful season since 1983, highlighted by its first postseason tournament victory since 2015.
"I didn't know Mike before this process began, but our new strength coach Jeff had worked with him at a previous institution, and I'm a big believer in good people vouching for good people," said Hughes. "With Jeff opening the door, it was clear very quickly that Mike was our guy. In a short amount of time, his passion for coaching and being in the gym came through immediately. He brings great energy, and I think he's going to be a tremendous addition to the staff.
Ma arrives to College Park after successful stints at Long Beach State, Saint Joseph High School, Seal Beach Volleyball Club, and Westcliff University. A 2016 graduate of Long Beach State, Ma heads to College Park with a resume that includes multiple league titles, national club medals, and a strong track record in player development and recruiting.
