BEFORE MARYLAND: A 3-star recruit and the 8th-ranked player out of the state of Illinois … unanimous Illinois Basketball Coaches Association First Team 4A All-State selection … named Illinois AP Second Team All-State … as a senior, led Niles North to a 27-6 record, in addition to regional and conference championships … averaged more than 20 points as a senior … averaged 16.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 steals as a junior … helped lead Niles North to 20-win seasons in each of his varsity seasons.
PERSONAL: Chose Maryland because it felt like "home" and was impressed when Coach Turgeon came to visit despite a snowstorm in Chicago ... First fell in love with basketball in third grade when he played AAU ...
