Storyline
Maryland hits February and the midway mark of the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule with its rematch with league-leading and 5th-ranked Duke. The Terrapins lost at Cameron Indoor Stadium, 74-61, on Jan. 9 in the first meeting between the teams this season.
Maryland remains in a logjam in the ACC standings, but enters this game with a 4-3 record after having won three straight. The last two of those victories were road wins at Virginia and at Georgia Tech, giving the Terrapins a league-best 3-1 record in road ACC games. The Terrapins ahve won seven of their last nine conference road games. The Terps are in a four-way tie for fourth in the ACC.
Sophomore center Jordan Williams had his streak of double-doubles snapped at Virginia, but he posted his NCAA-leading 18th of the year on Sunday at Georgia Tech. Williams had 21 points and a season-high-tying 15 rebounds in Atlanta, helping the Terrapins to 48 points in the paint. He still leads the ACC and is 3rd in the nation in rebounding (11.9 rpg) and is tied for the national lead in double-doubles with 18.
Sean Mosley scored 16 points against Georgia Tech. It was his seventh double-figure game of the season. He also added four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Mosley leads the Terrapins in steals this season with 25.
Maryland has held its last three opponents to .402 shooting from the floor and .292 from 3-point range. The Terrapins are 9th this week in the nation in FG percentage defense, keeping opponents to a .382 mark for the season. Maryland has held 11 of its 21 opponents to under 40 percent shooting for the game.
