#4 Ohio State Takes Down Maryland, 31-9

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Redshirt junior Lou Mascola continued his strong recent form with a win at 157 pounds, but Maryland wrestling team dropped a 31-9 decision to No. 4 Ohio State Sunday afternoon at XFINITY Center.
The Terps (5-11, 0-5 Big Ten) received wins from Mascola, Josh Snook (174 pounds) and Spencer Myers (285). Ohio State built an early lead with bonus points in the opening three contests including No. 1 Logan Stieber's pin at 141 pounds.
Redshirt junior Josh Polacek and Nathan Tomasello got action underway at 125 pounds. Tomasello was able to control the match throughout and used his riding time point to clinch a tech fall. At 133 pounds, Johnni DiJulius survived early trouble and pulled away late to defeat redshirt junior Geoffrey Alexander, 10-2.
The 141-pound bout saw Stieber control sophomore Shyheim Brown for the majority of the match before notching the fall at 4:54. Randy Languis increased the Buckeye advantage to 18-0 with a 3-1 victory
Just before intermission Mascola defeated Kyle Visconti 6-1 to put the Terps on the board. The redshirt junior came out on top of a number of exciting scrambles and ultimately secured the victory.
After Bo Jordan pinned sophomore Tyler Manion at 165 pounds, junior Josh Snook notched a solid 7-0 win over Dominic Prezzia. Starting on top to begin the second period, Snook notched a quick nearfall and was able to ride out the Buckeye grappler for the remainder of the period.
At 184 pounds, senior Tony Gardner dropped a 7-0 decision to Kenny Courts. Senior Rob Fitzgerald brought the XFINITY Center crowd to its feet late in his 197-pound bout against Kyle Snyder with a pin attempt that fell just short. Snyder ultimately took the match 19-9.
Senior Spencer Myers helped the Terps finish on a high note with a 1-0 victory over Ray Gordon at 285 pounds. Myers is now 4-0 on the season for Maryland.
The Terps will hit the road for their next match against Illinois next Friday. Action is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m at Huff Hall in Champaign, Ill.
