GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Four Terps tallied a pair of hits in the Maryland baseball team's (9-8, 0-0 B1G) 4-0 loss to No. 18 East Carolina on Friday.
Nick Dunn continued to hit at a torrid pace, picking up two hits including a double in the sixth inning of the game. Kevin Biondic, Tommy Gardiner and Taylor Wright each also posted two hits in the game.
Maryland nearly scored a pair of runs in the opening frame, but Bionic's home run attempt was robbed by ECU's Drew Henrickson, who reached over the left field wall to make the catch.
Taylor Bloom then posted a pair of scoreless innings to start the night, needing just 14 pitches to record the game's first six outs.
ECU struck for a pair of runs in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring two runs on single by Chandler Jenkins.
After a scoreless fourth inning, ECU put another run on the board in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Turner Brown. Bloom then tossed a pair of scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh, but the Pirates added their fourth and final run of the game in the eighth.
Despite allowing four runs, Bloom pitched the entire game for the Terps, posting five strikeouts in the outing. It was the second-consecutive weekend game a Maryland starter went the distance, as Hunter Parsons tossed a complete game in Maryland's Mar. 11 outing against Bryant.
The Terps and Pirates will continue their weekend series on Saturday. First pitch from Clark-LeClair Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tyler Blohm is the scheduled starter for the Terps.
