
#3 Maryland Takes on #6 Princeton Tuesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The third-ranked Maryland field hockey team (7-1) will host No. 6 Princeton (3-3) Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
• Admission is free for Tuesday's game.
• Lot 11b, the lot directly next to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex, will open for fan parking at 4 p.m. Fans should please read and follow all posted parking signs in the surrounding lots.
• The first 25 fans at Tuesday's game will enjoy a free taco bar for Taco Tuesday.
• The Terps-Tigers game will be streamed on BTN Plus. Fans around the world can watch with their BTN Plus subscriptions, which start at $9.99 a month. Live stats will also be available.

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW
• Maryland beat No. 24 Penn State, 3-1, Friday in College Park. Madison Maguire and Bodil Keus scored in the first half to open the scoring for Maryland. Mayv Clune made it a 3-0 lead for the Terps in the third quarter. Penn State found some energy in the fourth quarter and got on the board. Noelle Frost and the Terps' defense made seven saves in the final quarter to seal the win.
• The Terrapins are leading the Big Ten and are among the top 10 in the country in goals against average (0.72), assists per game (3.25), penalty corners per game (9.25), defensive saves (4) and save percentage (.846). They are tied with Iowa and Ohio State for goals scored with 27 on the year.
• Maguire leads the Terps with five goals this season and Keus has four. Five other Terrapins have notched three goals, including Emma DeBerdine, Jen Bleakney, Kyler Greenwalt and Riley Donnelly. Ten total Terps have scored.
• The Terrapins return eight of 11 starters from last year, including the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in Keus and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in Bibi Donraadt. Keus also earned NFHCA First Team All-America honors.
• The Terps went 22-3 in 2018, advancing to their second straight NCAA Championship game. They won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles as well.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• No. 6 Princeton is 3-3 so far this season. The Tigers fell to No. 21 Rutgers, 2-1 Friday and to No. 4 Connecticut, 2-1 in overtime Sunday.
• Hannah Davey is leading Princeton with five goals this season.
• Maryland owns the all-time series over Princeton, 24-9-1. Last year on Sept. 18, the Terps came back from a 4-1 deficit to win at Princeton, 5-4, in double overtime. Kyler Greenwalt and Kelee Lepage scored first for Maryland, then Bibi Donraadt tied it up with 15 seconds left in regulation to force extra time. In the NCAA Final Four in November, the Terps and the Tigers played almost 78 minutes of scoreless hockey. Donraadt scored the game winner eight minutes into overtime to send the Terps to the national championship game.
• Princeton head coach Carla Tagliente played at Maryland from 1997-00. Assistant coach Dina Rizzo played at Maryland with Tagliente and graduated in 2002. Rizzo was associate head coach at Maryland from 2010-15. They were both NFHCA All-Americans and helped the Terrapins to the 1999 NCAA title.

• Maryland was tabbed as the No.3 team in the country in the latest Penn Monto/Division I Coaches poll released Sept. 17.
• The Terrapins have been ranked in the top 10 for 184 of 216 weeks since 1999.

B1G TERPS
The Terrapins joined the Big Ten conference in 2014, after playing in the ACC for 31 years. Big Ten field hockey is the largest conference in the history of the sport in the NCAA with nine teams - Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland.• The Terps are 130-39-3 (.765) all-time against Big Ten opponents.
• Head coach Missy Meharg is 112-19-1 (.852) vs. Big Ten opponents in her 32 years at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program.
• Since joining the league in 2014, the Terps are 47-8 in conference play.
• The Terrapins are 45-3 (.938) vs. Big Ten teams at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
• The Terrapins won the first Big Ten title for the University of Maryland with a 4-1 win over No. 14 Iowa on Nov. 1, 2014 in College Park.
HOME SWEET HOME
Since its opening in 2003, the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has provided the Maryland hockey program a huge home field advantage.• The Terps are 183-20 (.902) all-time at the Complex.
• Maryland won 38 straight games at the Complex from Oct.11, 2008 through Oct. 14, 2011. The streak ended with a 5-2 loss to then-No. 1 Old Dominion.
• The Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has played home to 28 of Maryland's NCAA Tournament games and has played host to three Final Fours (2007, 2010, 2014). The Terrapins are 25-3 in those games and won the 2010 national title on their home field.
PACK THE HOUSE
• The Maryland field hockey team has increasingly attracted more and more fans to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex season after season. The Terrapins have led the nation in attendance in five of the last eight years.
• An NCAA-record crowd of 2,381 came out to watch as Maryland beat North Carolina 3-2 in double overtime for the 2010 national championship at the Complex.
THREE TERPS EARN PRESEASON BIG TEN HONORS
• Graduate student Jen Bleakney, senior Madison Maguire and junior Bodil Keus earned Big Ten Preseason Honors to start the season. The full list, click HERE.
• Keus was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season and earned NFHCA First Team All-America honors. She scored nine goals with seven assists and three defensive saves in 2018.
• Maguire notched seven goals, including an overtime game winner over No. 5 Connecticut to send the Terps to their 19th Final Four. She picked up 12 assists on the year and earned NFHCA All-Mid Atlantic Region honors..
• Bleakney comes to the Terrapins from Syracuse, where she tallied 11 goals and six assists in three seasons.
CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
• Bleakney and Keus were voted team co-captains by their peers.
OVERTIME IS TERPS TIME
During Missy Meharg's tenure, the Terrapins have become one of the nation's most dangerous teams in overtime.
• The Terps are 68-25 (.731) all-time in games that went to overtime or a shootout.
• In Meharg's tenure, the Terps are 57-21 (.731) in overtime or shootout games.
• Maryland is 15-3 in overtime and shootout games at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
STAFF UPDATES
• The Terrapins welcome two new assistant staff members and former Terrapins in 2019. Janessa Pope will serve as the team's director of operations and Sarah Holliday is a student assistant coach.
• Pope played for the Terrapins from 2009-2012 and won two NCAA Championships in her career. She graduated with her degree in hearing and speech sciences and works at a local elementary school as a speech language pathologist for preschoolers.
• Holliday played for the Terrapins from 2015-2018 and started in 74 career games. She notched 261 career saves. She is finishing her degree in psychology.
TERPS ON NATIONAL TEAMS
• Thirteen Terrapins, former and present, are currently on USA Field Hockey's national team rosters.
• Jill (Witmer) Funk competed with Team USA in the Rio Olympics along with former volunteer assistant coach Stefanie Fee. Former Terrapin Megan Frazer is on the Irish National Team.
• Recent grads Linnea Gonzales, Anna Dessoye and Alyssa Parker are on the U.S. Women's National Team. The won bronze in the Pan American games this summer.
• Seniors Kelee Lepage, Madison Maguire and recent grad Sabrina Rhodes are on the U.S. Developmental Squad.
• Current Terps Brooke DeBerdine and Kyler Greenwalt are on the U.S. Under-21 Team. Emma DeBerdine, Belle Bressler and Riley Donnelly are on the U.S. U-19 Team.
