COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Maryland wrestling team won three bouts but ultimately fell 24-9 to the Virginia Cavaliers on Friday night to start the 2021-22 season.
The Terps' three individual victories came in back-to-back-to-back fashion from
Dominic Solis,
Kyle Cochran, and
Jaron Smith in the latter part of the dual.
Solis took home a 5-2 decision with a pair of takedowns while Cochran used three takedowns to earn his 7-4 decision. Both solidified their victories with third-period scores.
Smith's victory came with an early takedown and turn, and he held on to win by a 16-14 score.
