HOFSTRA STORYLINES
READY TO REBOUNDÂ
- Maryland's loss to George Mason was a rarity in the Mark Turgeon era, as it was just the program's second loss in a home game versus a non-power-5 team in his 11 seasons at the helm.
- The first was to Boston University in 2013. It was also Maryland's first loss in the month of November since 2018, when it fell to No. 4 Virginia, 76-71, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. It had previously won 13 consecutive games in November. Maryland has not lost back-to-back non-conference games (in consecutive games) since 2013.
BIAS IS IN THE BUILDING
- Maryland men's basketball is celebrating the induction of the late Len Bias to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame this Sunday, Nov. 21, in Kansas City.
- He is just the fourth Terrapin to be represented in the hall, joining Tom McMillen and head coaches Lefty Driesell and Gary Williams.
- Maryland will celebrate Bias at its first home game following the ceremony on Dec. 1 against Virginia Tech, when it will give out replica Bias jerseys to the first 4,000 students in attendance.
RUSSELL REPORT
- Graduate guard Fatts Russell is among the active career leaders in a number of categories. He currently ranks 10th in steals (215), 28th in points (1,645) and t-36th in assists (424).
- Russell left Rhode Island as the program's all-time leader in steals.
STEVE BLAKE MAKES THE MARYLAND HOF
- Maryland is also celebrating legendary 2002 National Champion point guard Steve Blake, who is being inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame Friday night on campus.
- Blake is the only four-time All-ACC selection in program history and remains the school's leader in career assists (972), single-season assists (286) and career starts (136).
TRANSFERS READY TO MAKE AN IMPACT
- The prize of Mark Turgeon's transfer portal success this offseason was the addition of Georgetown forward Qudus Wahab, who was ranked the No. 3 overall transfer of the offseason by CBS Sports. The 6-11 junior reached double-figures in 19-of-26 games last season and led the Hoyas in rebounds (8.2), double-doubles (8) and blocks (1.6) en route to capturing the Big East Tournament title. Wahab is on the watch list for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award.
- Graduate guard Fatts Russell transferred from Rhode Island where he appeared in 119 games, totaling 1594 points and becoming the program's all-time leader in steals (213). He was named both Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference and All-Defense. Russell added 13 pounds from the time he joined the program to the start of the season.
- Graduate guard Xavier Green is in his sixth year of college basketball and at 25-year-old will be the oldest player in the Big Ten Conference. He appeared in 121 games for Old Dominion, averaging 8.7 points/g. In 2018-19 he was the Conference USA Tournament MVP and was named to the Conference USA All-Defensive Team.
- Sophomore guard Ian Martinez transferred from Utah after a coaching change in the program. The first Costa Rican to every play major Division I college basketball, Martinez averaged 9.7 points over the final six games last season.
- Sophomore forward Pavlo Dziuba transferred from Arizona State after serving as the youngest player in all of college basketball last season (17). He is the first Ukrainian to play at Maryland since No. 5 overall NBA selection Alex Len, who he has a relationship with.
- Graduate forward Simon Wright joined the program as a preferred walk-on after spending the last four seasons at Elon, where he appeared in 110 games (35 starts). Wright double-majored in public health and psychology, and is currently pursuing his master's degree in clinical psychological science.

SERIES HISTORY

The Terrapins are a perfect 5-0 all-time Hofstra in a series that dates back to in the inaugural meeting in 1982.
Maryland won the most recent meeting on Nov. 16, 2018, 80-69, when Bruno Fernando made all eight of his field goal attempts to score 17 points and then-freshman Eric Ayala knocked down three triples to add 14 points.
