College Park, MD -- Each week during the 2022-23 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week's Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week is Senior forward Donta Scott of Maryland basketball.
Donta Scott led Maryland to a 3-0 week including wins over Saint Louis and Miami (both receiving votes in the AP Top 25) which led the Terps to the 2022 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Championship title. Behind Scott's 19.7 points for the week, Maryland won all three games by a combined 23.3 points with both Saint Louis and Miami receiving their first losses of the year. Scott was 22-of-40 from the floor, averaged 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. He tied his career high with 25 points against Saint Louis before adding 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists against Miami.
Against the Hurricanes, he had 15 points in the first half alone pushing him over 1,000 points for his career. He is the 17th player in Maryland history to reach 1,000 points/500 rebounds for a career. In the two tournament games against SLU and Miami, Scott averaged 24.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and shot 17-of-25 from the floor (5-of-9 from 3-point range), and was 10-of-11 from the free throw line to earn All-Tournament honors.
The Terps return home to host Coppin State on a Black Friday Special, Friday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m., in XFINITY Center. The game will air on B1G+ and the Maryland Sports Radio Network.
