ANNAPOLIS, MD – Maryland's men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Annapolis Maryland to open their indoor seasons at the Navy Invitational.
The meet in Maryland's capital was headlined by a stellar performance from junior
Jeff Kline, who threw to a personal best mark of 19.65m in the shot put, taking first place and shattering a forty-four year old Maryland program record.

Men's Notes:

Junior Jeff Kline threw to a personal best mark of 19.65m in the shot put - the farthest mark in Terrapins history. His throw also earned a first place result and set a new Navy facility record.

Rhys Allen also competed in the shot put, taking fifth place and throwing 15.78m.

Joseph Ewan was victorious in the 60m dash, sprinting to a 6.83s finish. Kamari Trotz (6.92) took third, and Tommy Adebayo (7.07) also impressed for the Terps.

Luke Tobia made his Maryland debut with a second place performance in the weight throw, throwing to a mark of 19.24m, a top three mark all-time.

Tyler Baruch made his collegiate debut, taking second place in the long jump, reaching a mark of 7.21m.

Eric Albright (4:14.60) took second place in the mile run. Cliff Carty also had a strong race in the event.

Gerald Norgbe jumped 14.43m in the triple jump, taking a second place finish.

Kevin Collins sprinted to a 22.05s finish in the 200m, earning a fifth place result.

Brandon Turpin set a new personal record in the 60m hurdles, reaching the line in 8.27s in the finals. Drake Murphy hurdled to a 8.46s finish in prelims.
Women's Notes:

Madison Depry opened her indoor season with a victory in the 200m, sprinting to the line in 25.12s. Ashley Thomas also competed in the 200m for the squad.

A trio of Terps competed in the weight throw. Sarah George (18.22m) took second place in the event, Kamryn Henderson (16.89m) took third and Jayla Blum (16.51m) took fourth.

Kayla Thorpe took second in the shot put, throwing 14.85m. Jayla Bynum (14.16m), Sarah George (13.86m), and Kamryn Henderson (13.44m) all took top five results as well.

Kattiana Ealy-Pulido hurdled to a second place performance in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.85s in the finals.

Lydia Robling made her Terps debut, taking second place in the 500m with a time of 1:17.83.

Kami Joi Hickson (3:04.35) took second place in the 1000m run.

Samantha Facius took fifth place in the mile run, finishing in 5:18.66. Kirstin Nichols took seventh in the event.

Gwendolyn Zeckowski cleared 3.55m in the pole vault, earning a sixth place result.

Jaiden Ritter (6.92s) had a top ten result competing in the 60m dash. Kayla Woods (7.93) and Maya Mosley also competed in the 60m dash for Maryland.

Ariana Wright ran a strong season opener in the 800m.

Katie Ericson (10:46.47) Claudia Dolan (10:49.23) and Hannah Mack competed in the 3K.

Maryland's 1600m relay squad of Kattiana Ealy-Pulido, Kayla Woods, Lydia Robling and Maya Mosley rounded out the meet with a second place finish (3:53.52).

"Our goal in this early season opener was to showcase the hard work everyone put in this fall. We are already starting off the season with school records and personal best achievements."
Next Up:
The Terps will be back in action this January, after a short winter break. The Maryland squads will travel to Penn State on January 14th to compete in the Nittany Lion Challenge.
