NEBRASKA STORYLINES
TOP COMPETITION
- Maryland has played a combined 17 Quad 1 and Quad 2 games this season, which is the most in the Big Ten Conference as of Feb. 15.
- It has won six of those games, which is more than Iowa (5), Michigan (5) and Indiana (4).
Ayala WATCH
- Against Iowa (2/10), senior Eric Ayala knocked down his 207th career 3-pointer to pass former teammate Anthony Cowan Jr. and move into third on Maryland's career list.
- He trails only Juan Dixon (239) and Greivis Vasquez (230). Ayala also ranks 26th in program history with 1,357 points.
CLOSE CALL
- The Terrapins nearly shocked the country in their last outing at No. 3 Purdue as they took the Boilermakers to the brink before ultimately falling, 62-61.
- With Eric Ayala sidelined due to injury, Fatts Russell stepped up to the tune of 24 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals. Donta Scott had a look at the basket in the final seconds for a game-winning shot, but was ultimately turned away.
LIVING AT THE LINE
- Maryland currently leads the Big Ten in free throws made (349) and is second in free throws attempted (465), while converting at a 75-percent rate (5th in the Big Ten).
- The effort has been led by Fatts Russell (98) and Eric Ayala (94), who both rank in the top-10 in the Big Ten in free throws attempted.
FATTS GETTING HIS
- Graduate guard Fatts Russell surpassed a pair of major milestones against Iowa (2/10), reaching both 1,900 career points and 500 career assists.
- He is the only active player in Division I men's basketball with 1900 points, 500 assists and 225 steals.
SERIES HISTORY
- Maryland holds a 9-3 advantage over Nebraska in the all-time series, with every meeting coming after Maryland's entrance into the Big Ten Conference in 2014-15.
- This is Maryland's first trip to Lincoln since the 2018-19 season. The Terrapins were scheduled to make the trip last year, but a COVID pause in the Cornhuskers program canceled the meeting.
- The game was then made up in College Park in a unique set of circumstances as the teams played each other on back-to-back nights with Maryland claiming victory in both.
