Box Score LINCOLN, NE – Maryland opened the second half outscoring Nebraska 31-14 over the first 10 minutes and went on to a 90-74 victory over Nebraska on Friday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Fatts Russell led the way with 23 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Donta Scott scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Julian Reese scored a career-high 13 points with all of those points coming in the first half.
Hakim Hart also scored 13 points.
Qudus Wahab and
Ian Martinez also scored 10 points to give Maryland six players in double-figures for the first time since Dec. 10, 2018 vs.Loyola.
The Terps (12-14, 4-11 Big Ten) outscored Nebraska 48-34 in the second half as Maryland shot 59.3 from the floor in the final 20 minutes on the way to a 52.5 field goal percentage for a game.
Maryland took care of the basketball, as Maryland committed just four turnovers. Maryland's season low prior to this game was nine. The turnover total was the fewest since Maryland committed four against Nebraska (2/17/21) last season
Bryce McGowens led Nebraska (7-19, 1-14 Big Ten) with 25 points. Alonzo Verge Jr. chipped in with 14 points.
Breaking Down The Action
- In a back-and-forth first half, the Terps held a 42-40 edge at intermission. The lead changed hands seven times and the game was tied six times in the first 20 minutes. Reese set his career-high in the first half alone with 13 points in just 10 minutes of action, making 4-of-5 from the floor and adding 5-of-5 from the line. Russell tallid 11 points in the half. Nebraska was led by McGowens, who also scored 11.
- Maryland opened the second half with a 12-3 spurt to take the first double-figure lead of the game - for either team - on a Scott slam dunk, putting Maryland ahead 54-43. The Terps expanded that lead to19 on five consecutive points by Ian Martinez, including a nifty windmill dunk to put Maryland ahead, 73-54. Nebraska never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way. Martinez punctuated the win with another dunk with a minute left in the game.

- Maryland had six players in double-figures for the first time since Dec. 11, 2018 against Loyola (Anthony Cowan Jr. (23), Jalen Smith (20), Eric Ayala (13), Bruno Fernando (11), Aaron Wiggins (11), Serrel Smith Jr. (10).
- Russell (23 points) hit double-figures for the 21st time this season, including the last eight games in a row, and 97th time in his career. It was his sixth game this season and third in row with 20-plus points.
- Scott (13 points) scored 10-plus for the 17th time this season and 41st time in his career.
- Reese (career-high 13 points) reached double-figures for the sixth time this season and just second time in a conference game.
- Hart (13 points) tallied his 15th game this year and 23rd in his career in double-figures.

- It was the second time this season Maryland scored 90 points, and first in regulation as the other came in a double-overtime win at Northwestern (94-87).
- The 90 points were the most scored in regulation of a Big Ten Conference game since a 91-73 win over Iowa on Jan. 7, 2018.
- The Terrapins are now 10-1 when leading with 5:00 minutes to play, with its lone loss of the season coming at No. 3 Purdue (2/14).

Series History
- Maryland now holds a 10-3 advantage over Nebraska in the all-time series, with every meeting coming after Maryland's entrance into the Big Ten Conference in 2014-15.
- This was Maryland's first trip to Lincoln since the 2018-19 season.
- The Terrapins were scheduled to make the trip last year, but a COVID pause in the Cornhuskers program canceled the meeting. The game was then made up in College Park in a unique set of circumstances as the teams played each other on back-to-back nights with Maryland claiming victory in both.
