COLLEGE PARK, MD --The Terps track and field teams opened their 2022 outdoor season, hosting the Maryland Invitational at the Kehoe Track.
In their first home meet, the Terrapins once again had a successful outing at the Kehoe Track. Several Terps set personal records on a day filled with podium finishes and strong efforts. Alice Barnsdale set the tone for the competition setting a new Kehoe Track facility record in the hammer throw, breaking the previous record set in 2007.

Women's Notes

Alice Barnsdale set a new Kehoe Track facility record in the hammer throw, as she threw to a mark of 61.05m, winning the event. Kamryn Henderson (54.03m) also threw to a second place mark in the hammer throw, while Sarah George (50.17m) took fifth place.

Sarah George (13.43m) and Kamryn Henderson (13.09m) doubled up, competing in the shot put, placing second and third respectively.

The Terps swept the podium in the 3000m, as Katie Altieri raced to a 10:09.22 finish in the event, placing first. Anna Coffin (10:09.73), Christine Laurie (10:10.53) and Hannah Mack followed, placing second, third and fourth.

Emma Pegg was victorious in the 1500m, finishing with a time of 4:38.85 in her first outdoor collegiate meet. Katie Turk (4:50.74), Mackenzie Morgan (4:51.32), Sophia Zell (4:51.79), and Katerina Talanova (4:53.30) all finished within the top ten in the event.

Gwendolyn Zeckowski (3.35m) claimed victory in the pole vault.Â

Jessica Sutter (41.68m) took home first place in the javelin throw, and Lillian Hill (40.52m) took second.Â

Madison Depry earned two podium finishes on the day, as she cleared 1.70m in the high jump, and earned a second place result. She also competed in the 200m dash for the Terps squad, sprinting to a 25.61s finish and earning a third place result.Â

Ariana Ealy-Pulido and Kattiana Ealy-Pulido earned third place and fourth place, respectively, in the 100h.

Kattiana Ealy-Pulido doubled up for the Terps, and later competed in the 400m hurdles, sprinting to a 1:02.93 finish and winning the event.Â

Ariana Ealy-Pulido also competed in the 200m for the Terrapins, sprinting to a 26.50s finish. Nyela Williams also competed in the 200m dash.Â

Kasey Ebb (57.92) sprinted to a fourth place finish in the 400m with Ariana Wright finishing in sixth place.

Kirstin Walz earned a top five result in the 800m.

The Terrapins finished up the day with the 4x400. Maryland's squad of Kattiana Ealy-Pulido, Jaida Smith, Ariana Wright and Kasey Ebb took home third place in the event.
Men's Notes

Solomon Lawrence (1:55.22) took home first place in the 800m. Chase McGeehan also competed in the event, sprinting to a 1:57.01 finish and earning fourth place.Â

Jeff Kline threw to a mark of 47.19m in the discus throw, earning second place.

Matthew Bigelow cleared 4.20m in the pole vault enroute to winning the event.Â

Kiaeem Thomas and Bryce Middleton each cleared 1.95m in the high jump, earning second and third place results for the Terps.

Brandon Turpin set a personal record in the 400m hurdles (54.92s), taking third place.

Gerald Norgbe won the triple jump with a mark of 14.43m. Â

Eric Albright ran to a 4:06.48 finish in the 1500m, earning a sixth place result. Cliff Carty (4:08.60) also raced to a top ten finish.

The Terps rounded out competition with the 4x400. The Terps squad of Kobe Simpson, Maxwell Myers, Colin Rowe, and Caleb Dean sprinted to a 3:10.36 finish to place second.
Coach's Comments
"Our goal this weekend was to post as many victories as possible and to show up big on our home track. The support in College Park from alumni, family, and friends helped boost some great performances on the track and in the field."

The Terrapins will have several athletes traveling to Orlando, FL to compete at the UCF Knights Invite while the remaining squad will travel to Raleigh, NC to compete in the Raleigh Relays next Friday and Saturday (3/25-26).
