No. 9 Terps Pick Up Huge Conference Win, Best No. 5 Iowa 4-1

Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Hannah Boss scored a career-high two goals and No. 9 Maryland came away with a statement win over No. 5 Iowa by a score of 4-1. The win marked the sixth straight for the Terps who improved to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten.

Maryland, who held a 3-0 lead going into the fourth quarter, also got goals from Nathalie Fiechter and Sammy Popper. Alyssa Klebasko made three saves.

The four goals the Terps scored are the most anyone has scored against the Hawkeyes since Oct. 29, 2017. The four goals also tie the most Maryland has ever scored against Iowa, equaling the four the team scored in 2016.

The Terps put eight of their 10 shots on goal, holding an 8-4 advantage over the Hawkeyes (12-3, 3-3) in that category.
Breaking Down The Action
  • It took less than two minutes for the Terps to get on the board as they once again capitalized off a penalty corner, with Popper putting one home with an assist from Josie Hollamon.
  • The Terps added another in the first quarter as Boss created a Hawkeye turnover before taking it herself for her first goal of the night.
  • Fiechter made it 3-0 Terps right before the third quarter came to a close as Maryland converted off a penalty corner for the second time. Fiechter scored off a deflected shot that was loose.
  • After Iowa scored quickly to open the fourth, Maryland answered as Boss got her second of the evening, putting home a loose ball in front of the net.
