
Wrestling Begins 2023-24 Season With Red-Black Match

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland wrestling will begin the 2023-24 season with the annual Red vs. Black Match on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 pm in the XFINITY Center Pavilion. It will be the first chance for fans to watch this year's group under fifth-year head coach Alex Clemsen. Admission is free to the public.
There will be 14 different bouts on the night. They are listed below in order.
Match-ups
The event will be streamed live on Maryland Wrestling's Facebook for those unable to attend in-person.
The Terps' first official match will come on Thursday Nov. 2, when they travel to Washington, DC to face American at 7 pm. The dual will air on ESPN+.
Fifth-year head coach Alex Clemsen and Maryland are coming off a 10-win dual season, the highest win mark since the 2012-13. The Terps also had five NCAA qualifiers last season (Braxton Brown, Ethen Miller, Kal Miller, Jaron Smith and Jaxon Smith), marking the most qualifiers since 2014. All except for Jaron Smith are back for the 2023-24 season in addition to 2022 NCAA Qualifier Dominic Solis. The Terps also made a big splash in the portal by bringing in former top recruit and Penn State heavyweight Seth Nevills.
