COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland wrestling will begin the 2023-24 season with the annual Red vs. Black Match on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 pm in the XFINITY Center Pavilion. It will be the first chance for fans to watch this year's group under fifth-year head coach
Alex Clemsen. Admission is free to the public.
There will be 14 different bouts on the night. They are listed below in order.
Match-ups
The event will be streamed live on Maryland Wrestling's Facebook for those unable to attend in-person.
The Terps' first official match will come on Thursday Nov. 2, when they travel to Washington, DC to face American at 7 pm. The dual will air on ESPN+.
Fifth-year head coach
Alex Clemsen and Maryland are coming off a 10-win dual season, the highest win mark since the 2012-13. The Terps also had five NCAA qualifiers last season (
Braxton Brown,
Ethen Miller,
Kal Miller,
Jaron Smith and
Jaxon Smith), marking the most qualifiers since 2014. All except for
Jaron Smith are back for the 2023-24 season in addition to 2022 NCAA Qualifier
Dominic Solis. The Terps also made a big splash in the portal by bringing in former top recruit and Penn State heavyweight
Seth Nevills.
