MADISON, WI - The Maryland cross country team secured a top-ten finish at the Big Ten Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. This mark equals Maryland's best finish in the Big Ten, tying their finish from 2017.
The Terps were led by three top-50 finishers, with junior Katie Altieri crossing the finish line first for the Terps in 34th place. She was closely followed by freshman Rose Coats in 46th, and graduate student Anna Coffin in 47th. This was a gritty performance with all three ladies competing in the top of the pack.
Katie Turk was the fourth Terp to finish, while Amanda Eliker was the fifth and final scorer for Maryland, coming across the line. Rubie Goffena, Sophia Zell, Hannah Mack, and AnnaMarie Tretola also competed for the Terps in Madison.
Coach's Comments:
"This was a good steppingstone for our squad cracking the top ten of a very competitive conference. As a team the group put themselves in a strong position and kept moving up throughout the race."
Next Up: The Terps now look ahead to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet in Bethlehem, PA in two weeks' time on November 10th.
