COLLEGE PARK, MD - The University of Maryland softball team will head to DeLand, Florida for the Stetson Invitational hosted by Stetson.  Maryland will face off against three different opponents over three days of competition.  The action kicks off Feb. 23 when the Terps open the series against Green Bay at 12:00 p.m. ET. and will take on Stetson later in the day at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.     

 
Series history
  • Maryland is coming off a 1-4 weekend in Hammond, Louisiana.
  • Stetson will host the tournament after starting 2-6.  They have victories over Colgate and Bethune-Cookman University. Stetson will head into the tournament with a .230 team batting average and a 3.37 team ERA.  Stetson is lead by Kami Eppley who leads the team in RBI's (4), R (4), and SB (5).
  • Maryland is currently 1-0 all time against Stetson with their last meeting coming back in 2009.  The Terps would win this game 3-2.  
  • Green Bay (1-4) will head to Florida with a .155 team batting average.  They are lead by Paige Hanson who leads the team in batting average with .417 and Samantha Saloun who leads the team in RBI's with two. 
  • LIU (5-5) will travel to Florida with a .265 team batting average.  They are lead by Alyssa O'Donnell in the circle who has a 2.28 ERA and leads the team with 30.2 innings pitched.
  • Maryland currently is 11-3 all time against LIU.  The last time both teams played was back in 2014 when the Terps lost 2-1.

  • Maryland wrapped up their weekend in Hammond, Louisiana going 1-4 against three different opponents.  
  • The Terps picked up a 9-1 win on Friday against Southeast Missouri. Madison Runyan went 2-for-3 and drove in a career-high four runs with an RBI single in the second inning, an RBI ground out in the third inning and a two-run single to clinch the game in the sixth. She added two runs on the day as she contributed to six of Maryland's nine runs scored.  
  • Four Terps recorded RBIs and Maryland drew nine walks as a team. Two of its walks occurred with bases loaded, leading to runs scored. Jaeda McFarland drew a career-high three walks. 
  • Runyan wrapped up the weekend in Louisiana recording a hit in all five of the games.

Madison Runyan went 2-for-3 and drove in a career-high four runs with an RBI single against SEMO.
Diamond williams shines 
  • Graduate student Diamond Williams continues to make her impact on this Maryland team.
  • She wrapped up the weekend series in Louisiana hitting home runs in back-to-back games on Saturday. Williams now has a five-game hitting streak. She has hits in eight of nine games this season.  
  • Diamond has started in all 10 games at first base and leads the team in batting average with a .333 and has driven in 8 RBI's. Williams leads the Terps with three home runs. 
  • Williams now has 22 career homers with three this season, her first as a Terp.

Williams now has a five-game hitting streak. She has hits in eight of nine games this season.

  • Courtney Wyche struck out nine batters on Saturday to increase her career total to 453, which is sixth all-time. She passed Kaitlyn Schmeiser (2012-15) and is 40 away from passing Monica Cyphert (2001-04) for fifth all-time. 
  • Wyche is also seventh on the all-time innings pitched list. She has pitched 478 innings and is 40.1 innings from passing Monica Cyphert (2001-04). 
  • Wyche pitched her 36th complete game of her career. She's four away from passing Kerry Hickey (2008-11) for sixth all-time.
