COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 9 Maryland women's lacrosse defeated Ohio State, 8-5, on Senior Day at Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on Sunday. The Terps improved to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in Big Ten play while holding the Buckeyes to a season-low scoring output.
Maryland's defense was anchored by JJ Suriano, who made three saves, and Caroline Smith, who added three saves in the contest. The Terps limited the Buckeyes (8-6, 1-6 Big Ten) to just 11 shots on goal. Maryland outshot Ohio State 29-16 overall in the contest.

The Terps allowed one goal in each quarter, including two scores in the second. Maryland's defense stepped up late in the fourth, as its offense went scoreless in the final frame.
Kayla Gilmore, Kori Edmondson and Kate Sites led the Terps offensively, each scoring two goals. Shelby Sullivan and Chrissy Thomas also added scores. Thomas also recorded three assists.
Gilmore and Sullivan combined for 10 wins in the draws circle, each recording five wins. As a team, the Terps won 12-of-16 draw controls.
