COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 4 Maryland field hockey will begin the 2025 campaign with two home games in College Park this weekend as Stanford and Villanova will travel to College Park.

PARKING - Please note: The University of Maryland residence hall move-in is taking place this weekend; plan to arrive early and expect traffic on campus. Parking is free in Lot 11b, located directly next to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

  • Maryland opens the regular season with the No. 4 position in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division 1 National Coaches Poll. The Terps received 155 votes. This ranks one place lower than last year's preseason ranking.
  • No. 4 Maryland is set to host Stanford for its first regular-season game of 2025 in College Park on Friday, followed by a contest with Villanova on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
  • The Terps are returning 6 starters from last year's team that finished their season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament losing to #9 Duke, 1-0.
  • The Maryland roster displays depth at each position including 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Josie Hollamon. Second Team All-Big Ten members Annemijn Klijnhout and Ella Gaitan return to help lead the offense. On the defensive side, All-Big Ten Second Team honoree goalie Alyssa Klebasko returns.

  • In 2024, the Stanford field hockey team posted an 8-8 overall record. The Cardinal went 2-6 in ACC play and made it to the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament before losing to Boston College 3-2.
  • The Cardinal returns 20 letter-winners from last year's squad including senior goalkeeper Daisy Ford. Earning preseason All-ACC accolades, she led the conference last year in saves per game (5.53) and recorded a career best of four shutouts on the year. Stanford was picked to finished seventh in the preseason ACC Coaches Poll. Head coach Roz Ellis is entering her fifth season at the helm. During her tenure, Ellis has had five players earn All-America East honors and one earn All-ACC honors. In her inaugural season in the ACC, Stanford finished 8-9.
  • In 2024, the Villanova field hockey team posted a 10-7 overall record and went 4-3 in Big East Conference play. Mitchell was named the preseason Big East Offensive Player of the Year and as a team, Villanova was picked to finish fifth in the preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • This season, Borowski and Lysaght were named to the preseason All-Big East Team. Borowski scored a career-best 10 goals last season, notching three multi-goal games including hat tricks against Mercyhurst and Temple. Lysaght led the Wildcats in minutes played with 964 and tallied two goals and a career-high eight assists.

  • The Terrapins return multiple key players at all positions
  • All-Big Ten Second Team member Ella Gaitan was the Terps' second leading scorer at the end of the 2024 campaign with 21 points from nine goals and three assists.
  • Josie Hollamon returns for her junior season in College Park. The 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year had 16 points last season with five goals and six assists. She was named co-captain for the 2025 season alongside senior Ericka Morris-Adams.
  • Senior Fleur Knopert returns for her final season at Maryland. She ended the 2024 season with 12 points from five goals and two assists.
  • Maci Bradford and Alyssa Klebasko return to College Park after playing in the Junior Pan American Cup. Klebasko represented the United States as the flag bearer.
  • All-Big Ten Freshman Team member Annemijn Klijnhout returns for her sophomore season. She recorded six points with two goals and two assists

Fresh faces
  • Maryland welcomes 11 new additions to the Terrapin Family, including one transfer and 10 freshmen.
  • Transfer student Ella Fehr (VCU) adds experience to the roster coming to Maryland for her sophomore season. She earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Rookie Team Atlantic 10 honors. Fehr led VCU in goals (9) and was second on the team in points (19).
  • Freshmen Brinkley Eyre, Maia Adamson, Jordyn Hollamon, Skylar Gilman, Sarah Walker, Faith Everett, Feliz Kuhne, Djuna Eikelboom, Erin Callahan, and Ryleigh Osborne all bring in a collection of unique skillsets, adding great depth at all positions.
  • Freshman Faith Everett joins junior sister Maya Everett on the roster this year. Faith is a 2021-22 4A East Regional Champion, a 2022-23 4A State Champion, 2022-25 FHCAMD First Team All-State member, and 2023-25 NFHCA High School First Team All-Region member.
  • Another sister pair is freshman Jordyn Hollamon joining big sister Josie Hollamon. Jordyn earned First Team All-State honors all four years in high school, was named the 2023-24 Division Two Delaware Player of the Year, named the 2024 USA Today Field Hockey Player of the Year, and the 2025 Delaware Female Athlete of the Year.
  • Joining sophomore AJ Eyre on the field this season is little sister Brinkley Eyre. She brings tons of experience on the field earning Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year honors, Baltimore Sun All-Met Player of the Year honors, FHCA MD Offensive Player of the Year honors, and is a three-time 2A Maryland State Champion.

Transfer Ella Fehr looks to make an immediate impact to the roster this season.
Championship coaching
  • Head coach Missy Meharg is in her fourth decade at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program in 2025, along the way building a program rich with a winning tradition. Voted National Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times, Meharg has exemplified the tradition of excellence Maryland field hockey has become known for, a program with eight National Championships and 27 conference championships - solidifying the Terrapins' position among the top programs in the nation.
  • She is supported by associate head coach Kasey Tapman Asper, and assistant coaches Will Holt and Maddy Sposito.
