COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 10 Maryland returns to College Park on Friday for the Terrapin Invitational Tournament, hosting Penn, American, and No. 13 Saint Joseph's. The No. 10 ranked Terps will face Penn at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by a Sunday showdown against No. 13 Saint Joseph's at noon to close out the tournament.

Parking:
Fans planning to attend the Maryland vs Penn game Friday can pay to park in lot XV1 which is right across the street from the field hockey complex or pay to park on the top level of Regents Drive Garage. Additionally, after 4:00 p.m. fans can park for free in lot 11B and 9B.

  • Penn is coming off a 4-2 win at home against Old Dominion. The Quakers registered eight shots with seven of them being on goal to help them pick up their first home win. Second Team All-Ivy League member Julia Ryan contributed a goal for the Quakers and 2024 team assist leader Sydney Mandato recorded three assists.
  • No. 13 Saint Joseph's lost on Sunday to No. 18 Penn State in overtime 2-1. Graduate student Ava Smith scored in the 14th minute to tie the game and force overtime. The Hawks led the Nittany Lions in saves 4-2 and penalty corners 6-3.
  • Pennsylvania will face Maryland for the third time in history. In their last meeting, Maryland pulled away with a 9-0 win in 2014.
  • The Hawks and Terps will face off on Sunday for the sixth time in history. Maryland has a 5-0 record versus the Hawks. Their most recent matchup was in 2021 in College Park, Maryland pulled away with a 4-3 win in double overtime.

  • Maryland went 0-2 over the weekend against two top 10 teams. On Friday the Terps lost 2-0 against No. 8 Boston College and 2-1 on Sunday against No. 5 Duke.
  • Jordyn Hollamon scored in the 48th minute against the Blue Devils to tie the game 1-1. Djuna Eikelboom recorded her second assist of the year. Duke pulled away with a late goal in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
  • Ella Fehr recorded two shots, Fleur Knopert, Djuna Eikelboom, Feliz Kuhne, Callie Rogers, and Ella Gaitan all recorded one shot on the weekend.

Olympic clinic
  • Maryland is hosting the Pave the Way Clinic through the USA Field Hockey Foundation at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on Septembet 14th.
  • Former Terps and Olympians Katie Kauffman Beach, Jill Witmer Funk, and Katie O'Donnell Bam are returning to College Park as coaches of the clinic.
  • Kauffman Beach played for Maryland from 1992-94 and 1996. She was inducted into the Maryland Hall of Fame in 2009.
  • Jill Witmer Funk played at Maryland from 2010-2013. She was decorated player and became a volunteer assistant coach for the Terps in 2014
  • Katie O'Donnell Bam led Maryland to the 2008 and 2010 NCAA Championships. She was the third Maryland student-athlete to be a four-time First Team All-American
  • All proceeds go directly to the USA National Team, fueling their journey to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California.

  • Head coach Missy Meharg is in her fourth decade at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program in 2025, along the way building a program rich with a winning tradition. Voted National Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times, Meharg has exemplified the tradition of excellence Maryland field hockey has become known for, a program with eight National Championships and 27 conference championships - solidifying the Terrapins' position among the top programs in the nation.
  • She is supported by associate head coach Kasey Tapman Asper, and assistant coaches Will Holt and Maddy Sposito.
