JJ Suriano made 12 saves on Championship Sunday.

ANN ARBOR, MI — No. 4 (No. 2 seed) Maryland battled with No. 2 (No. 1 seed) Northwestern in the Terps' ninth Big Ten Tournament Championship Game appearance on Sunday afternoon, but the Wildcats won the defensive bout 8-7 in overtime to claim the tournament title.

Kori Edmondson and Maisy Clevenger both scored twice while Kristen Shanahan collected four points. Lauren LaPointe brought Maryland within a goal in the final minutes before Keeley Block tied the game, but the Wildcats outlasted Maryland in overtime as the Terps fell to 16-3 (6-2 Big Ten) on the season while Northwestern improved to 15-3 (7-1 Big Ten).
