As a Redshirt Freshman (2015-16): Finished 10-10 on the year as the team's starter at 141 pounds…opened season with two wins by decision at Terrapin duals (11/1) vs. Mikey Racciato (Pittsburgh) and Jason Estevez (Buffalo)…went 3-1 at the Bearcat Open (11/8)…notched two Big Ten victories over Iowa’s Logan Ryan (11/20) and Michigan’s George Fisher (2/5)…earned sudden victory win over Rider's Paul Kirchner in dual finale (2/20)…picked up first career Big Ten Tournament win over Indiana’s Tommy Cash (3/5).
As a Freshman (2014-15): Racked up 37 wins in a decorated debut season at 141 pounds…led the team in wins by fall with ten…captured four open tournament championships…opened the year with three wins at the Clarion Open (11/2)…notched seven wins at the Bearcat Open after falling to top-10 Todd Preston of Harvard (11/9)…won the Wolfpack Open with five wins (11/16)…won six matches at the Wilkes Open (12/28)…captured the F&M Open title with five straight wins, defeating Bloomsburg’s Max Good in the final…dominated the Shorty Hitchcock Open with two wins by fall en route to the title (1/18)…nabbed the Messiah Open title, winning three of four matches by fall…won his opening two matches of the National Collegiate Open before the tournament was halted.
Before Maryland: Finished his career as the winningest high school wrestler in Maryland history with 272 victories, 201 of those by pin … won four straight Maryland Independent School titles, one of just five competitors to ever achieve that feat … a two-time National Prep Champion … a two-time National High School Coaches Association National Champion … a two-time Beast of the East champion … named to The Washington Post All-Met Team … selected as Maryland’s Dave Shultz High School Excellence Award honoree, which recognizes a wrestler for excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship and community service.
