Pat Hand: joined the Maryland squad after proving his ability at the try-outs held by Coach Driesell at the beginning of practice. A graduate of Warwick High School in Newport News, Virginia. During the pre-season games he played in a reserve role but was able to average slightly over two points per contest. Pat played forward for Warwick and his coach was Billy Taylor. While at Warwick Pat was a member of the National Honor Society.
