TAMPA, Fla. - With a pair of Maryland victories on the second day of the USF-Louisville Slugger Tournament, the Terps should have some momentum as they head into the final day of championship bracket play. In the Terps' third game of pool play this morning, sophomore Amanda Bettker (St. Petersburg, Fla.) tossed her second straight shutout as Maryland defeated Tennessee, 4-0. Championship bracket play began this afternoon as the Terps took on Georgia, overcoming the Bulldogs by a score of 6-5. The Terrapins improved their season record to 3-1 with the wins.

Bettker allowed no runs and scattered three Tennessee hits as she went the distance for the second straight game. The Terps scored their first run in the fourth inning on a Beth Radford (Dunkirk, Md.) RBI single, but broke the game open in the fifth as Jennifer Potzman (Trexlertown, Pa.) lined a double to left, driving in Michelle Burrell (Owego, N.Y.) and Samantha Sweeney (Marlton, N.J.). Sophomore first baseman Kiesha Pickeral (Hughesville, Md.) put the Terps up by the final margin with a single to center that scored Potzman.

The Terps defeated Georgia, 6-5, in game one of championship bracket play. A barrage of Terp base hits, including a two-for-three effort by senior Cortney Madea (Northampton, Pa.), spelled victory over the Bulldogs. Burrell was credited with two RBIs, including the game-winner in the fifth.

The Terrapins head into the final day of the USF-Louisville Slugger Tournament tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. versus the winner of the Florida Atlantic/South Florida game. The championship and consolation games will both be played at 2:00 p.m.
