COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Increased security measures will be in place for all of Maryland's remaining home football games, beginning with Saturday's non-conference contest vs. West Virginia at Byrd Stadium, as a result of the national tragedy Sept. 11.
Measures include the following:
-- Continued enforcement of long-standing policy which prohibits fans from bringing backpacks, fanny packs, coolers, large bags, bottles, cups or containers into the stadium.
-- All handbags, packages and equipment may be subject to search.
-- All parking areas will be monitored for suspicious vehicles.
-- University police will conduct a sweep of the stadium on game day.
-- Vehicular access inside and directly around Byrd Stadium will be restricted.
-- The stadium will be locked down and monitored by campus police the day preceding home games.
-- Flags are allowed but flag poles are not.
