COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland senior offensive lineman Todd Wike was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his play in the Terrapins' 30-12 win over Clemson last Saturday. It is the second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Wike entered this season having earned first team all-conference honors at guard a year ago. But due to injuries on the Terp offensive line, he has played all but one game this year at center and has improved to the point where he is now an honors candidate at center.

Below are notes on Wike and the other six players who were recognized by the league:

OFFENSIVE BACK
Virginia tailback Marquis Weeks, a sophomore from Berwyn, Pa., rushed for a career-high 129 yards on 19 carries, including 102 yards in the second half as Virginia topped 20th-ranked NC State 14-9. Weeks' 129 yards are the most by a Cavalier runner since Antwoine Womack rushed for 153 yards against Penn State in the final game last season.

OFFENSIVE LINE Maryland center Todd Wike, a 6-3 senior center from Lebanon, Pa., registered the highest grade among offensive linemen, totaling seven "big blocks" as the Terps posted their first win at Clemson since 1985, 30-12. Wike helped the Terps to a total time of possession of 39 minutes. He had no missed assignments, penalties, or sacks allowed and keyed the offensive line to scoring drives of 10 plays, 14 plays, 13 plays, and 12 plays, the Terps ran off a season-high 83 plays on offense.

DEFENSIVE LINE Keyaron Fox led an outstanding performance by the Georgia Tech defense in the Yellow Jackets' 17-2 victory over Duke. The Tech defense did not allow a score as Duke's only points came on a safety. Tech held the Blue Devils to just 284 yards of offense and allowed Duke to cross midfield only three times in the game. Fox, a junior from Atlanta, Ga., had eight tackles, two tackles for loss with one sack, an interception and a fumble recovery. The interception was the first of his career, and Fox returned it 35 yards to the Duke 21-yard line, setting up a field goal.

DEFENSIVE BACK Virginia cornerback Jamaine Winborne, a junior from Chesapeake, Va., had five solo tackles and one assist in Virginia's 14-9 upset win over NC State. Winborne recovered an NC State fumble on the three-yard line, preventing the Wolfpack from scoring. The cornerback also recorded two pass break-ups, including the pass on the last play of the game, sealing the victory.

SPECIALIST Clemson placekicker Aaron Hunt, a junior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., made good on four field goals in the Tigers' 30-12 loss to Maryland. Hunt was a perfect four-for-four in the contest, hitting from 29, 35, 22 and 42 yards. Hunt is now 15-18 for the year and has made 15 of his last 16. His only miss since the opener is a 49-yarder against Georgia Tech in the third game of the season. He has now made 10 consecutive field goal attempts.

ROOKIE (TIE THIS WEEK) Justin Miller, a cornerback from Owensboro, KY and T.A. McClendon, a tailback from Albamarle, N.C. tied for the rookie of the week. Miller had one of the best all-around games in Clemson history for a defensive player in the loss to Maryland with two interceptions, two caused fumbles, a pass deflection, five tackles and four kickoff returns for 152 yards. McLendon carried the ball 22 times for 75 yards and caught 10 passes for 70 yards in State's 14-9 loss at Virginia.
