Game Times Set for NCAA Field Hockey Championship

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After cruising to an easy 5-0 win over Penn State on Sunday, the third-seeded Maryland field hockey team faces ACC-rival and second-seeded Duke in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Amherst, Mass. The winner advances to the national championship game on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 12:30 p.m.

The Terps defeated the Nittany Lions in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on Sunday to advance to the final four in Amherst, Mass. Maryland also beat California, 2-0, in College Park in the first round of NCAA Tournament action.

Maryland is making its ninth national semifinal appearance, including a 1979 showing in the AIAW. The Terps brought home the NCAA crown in 1987, and current head coach Missy Meharg guided the team to the 1993 and 1999 national championship title.

The Terps and Blue Devils square off after top-seeded Wake Forest and Michigan clash at 5 p.m. The winners of both semifinal games play in the national championship match on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets for the 2003 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship can be purchased by calling the UMass Ticket Office at 1-866-UMASS-TIX or online at www.ticketmaster.com. All-session tickets are $15. Single game adult tickets are $10 and $5 for students and seniors.
