Field Hockey's Infante Named to NCAA All-Tourney Squad

Nov. 23, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's freshman Paula Infante was named to the NCAA Field Hockey Championships All-Tournament team, which was announced on Sunday at the conclusion of the national championship game.

A defender, Infante (Santiago, Chile) has earned a number of postseason accolades so far this season. She was one of three Terps named to the All-ACC team and was one of two picked ACC All-Tournament. She was also recently named first team All-Mid Atlantic Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Infante had an outstanding season, leading the team in points all year. An ACC Player of the Week honoree, she accumulated 45 points on 19 goals, which also leads the team, and seven assists. Her 19 goals ties for seventh all-time on Maryland's single-season records list.

Maryland made its 17th trip to the national championships and ninth trip to the national semifinals (includes 1979 AIAW appearance). Head coach Missy Meharg guided the Terps to their fourth 20-win season, going 20-4.
