AMHERST, Mass. -
In the second installment of "Postcards from New England," international players Brooke Johnson from Australia and Anja Boettcher from Germany reflect on their first trip with the field hockey team.
After defeating New Hampshire, 8-0, on Saturday and UMass, 7-0, on Sunday, the Terps take some time off before their next game on Tuesday, Sept. 2 against Quinnipiac.
Follow all the field hockey action throughout the season on www.umterps.com.
Hi Terp fans,
Today was again a successful day for the Maryland field hockey team, with a 7-0 win against UMass. The New England weather was again great with the girls enjoying the time playing without the humidity of College Park. The weather also allowed for some great sight seeing around the cute town of Northampton and a chance to go to some of the local restaurants and ice cream shops. The weather also allowed us foreigners to take some great photos (even some great action photos throughout the game).
The tailgate was again a great success with many of the girls being big fans of food this was the highlight of the day!!! Thanks to all the parents for their efforts to make it so enjoyable and TASTY!
Well let's hope for a great game on Tuesday.
See ya all at the "NEW TURF",
Brooke Johnson
(P.S. Hi Mum, Dad and Kate back home, can't wait to see you soon, juhuuuuuu (German for yay!!!)).
Halloooooooooooo,
Today it's international time and therefore I also would like to say Hello to everyone.
After an intensive preseason we started our first matches this weekend - and we have played really well so far.
For me it was my first time playing for Maryland and I really enjoy being a part of such a great team. We have a lot of fun on and off the field and the support from the parents has been awesome. Thank you so much for the good food. I wish every day would be a game day because I look forward to the tailgates.
Since we don't have a game tomorrow we are able to spend this evening with our families. And for us (internationals) the families have adopted us and taken good care of us (thanks Mare and Bubi -Bob says thank you also and we can't wait till Thanksgiving).
Hope to see you all at our first home game...
Tschuesssssss,
Anja Boettcher
P.S. Hi Mum, Dad and Andi -miss you lots !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
