COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland students have a unique opportunity to show their school spirit as the Terps are looking for students to become 'Testudo the Terrapin' for the upcoming school year. Mascot tryouts will be held Sept 8 and 9 in the Comcast Center Auxilliary Gymnasium beginning at 6:30 p.m. each day.

Testudo the Terrapin has been the Maryland's official mascot since 1933. For a complete history, visit Testudo's web page on umterps.com.

Testudo supports each of Maryland's athletic teams at many home events, makes special appearances, and travels to select away events as well. With the Maryland Spirit Squad, Testudo attends each Maryland football game both home and on the road, as well as at any postseason bowl events. During the late fall and winter seasons, Testudo attends men's and women's basketball home games, and has the opportunity to travel with the teams to both the men's and women's ACC and NCAA tournaments in the spring.
