Maryland Athletics and the Terrapin Sports Radio Network invite fans to tune-in and call-in to "Terps Talk" tonight with a special four-star lineup with featured guests including ESPN College Hoops Host Jay Bilas, new Terrapin defensive coordinator Chris Cosh, Maryland Gymnastics coach Bob Nelligan and former Maryland basketball player Duane Simpkins.
The two-hour, call-in show hosted by Johnny Holliday is dedicated to Terps sports.
ESPN host of College Hoops Tonight, Jay Bilas, will be on-hand to talk about the 2006 basketball season. As a player from 1982-1986, Bilas played in a Final Four tournament and, as an assistant coach (1989-1992), won two NCAA Championships. Bilas was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks and played three years of basketball overseas. He also contributes to ESPN Radio, ESPN.com and ESPN Magazine.
New Maryland football defensive coordinator Chris Cosh joins the Terps from Kansas State where he was the linebacker coach under legendary head coach Bill Snyder. A Washington, DC native and Virginia Tech graduate, Cosh is Coach Friedgen's first hire in the coordinator spot and has prior coaching experience with the Terps as a linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator in 1997.
University of Maryland Gymnastics head coach Bob Nelligan will give a preview of the 2006 Terrapin squad which has four returning seniors. In his 28th year with the Terps, Nelligan has led the team to 14 NCAA Southeast Region Championships. Nelligan will help guide the Terps in their quest to secure a place in the NCAA Championship meet this year. The Terrapins open the 2006 season at home on January 7 when they host James Madison and Bridgeport.
Duane Simpkins played for Maryland as starting point guard from 1992-1996 and played with the Professional European Basketball League for five years. Simpkins ranks 33rd on Maryland's all-time scoring chart with 1,123 points and helped the Terps to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances including reaching the Sweet Sixteen in 1994 and 1995.
