Three Terps Travel to New Zealand With U.S. National Field Hockey Team

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The U.S. National Field Hockey Team travels to New Zealand for a five-match test series, which begins May 14, and three Terrapins have been named to the roster, including former Terrapins Sara Silvetti ('05) and Dina Rizzo ('02). Current Terrapin junior Lauren Powley was called up to play with the Senior Squad for the series,as well.

A 2004 second team All-American and All-ACC pick, Silvetti (Wapwallopen, Pa.) finished a stellar career with the field hockey team in the fall and earned a spot on the U.S. National Team after team trials in January. She travels for her first-career international competition with the team.

Rizzo (Walpole, Mass.), who served as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall, has been a member of the Senior National squad since 2003. She was a member of the 2004 Olympic Qualifying team and, in 2003, played on the team that participated in the Pan Am games. Rizzo was an All-American in 2001.

Powley (Mountaintop, Pa.) has been involved with the junior national teams since 2000 and has been a starter on the Ubder-21 team the last two years. A three-time All-American, including earning first-team accolades the last two years, she is making her first-career appearance on the Senior National Team.

Games are slated to begin on May 14 with the last match taking place on May 21.
