POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Assistant/Associate Director (Varsity Sports)
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Full-time, Exempt (100054)
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate/Assistant Director for the Academic Support and Career Development Unit (ASCDU) reports to the Assistant AD for ASCDU and is responsible for assisting student-athletes in meeting their academic objectives. This individual will serve as the primary contact and academic counselor for designated varsity teams. Specific responsibilities include: (1) supervising two Academic Counselors and one Graduate Assistant; (2) acting as a liaison to faculty, administrators, and coaches regarding student-athlete academic matters; (2) participating in the recruitment, orientation, pre-registration, and enrollment of student-athletes; (3) tracking and monitoring academic progress for each student-athlete to ensure satisfactory progress; (4) coordinating the production, development, collection, dissemination, review, and analysis of the progress reports from faculty members; (5) assisting in monitoring the ASCDU budget; (6) serving as the liaison to the Financial Aid Office; (7) coordinating Individual Admit/Graduation database and other academic data/reports; and (8) serve on designated campus committees. This unit employs 13 full-time staff and 2 graduate assistants with an annual budget in excess of $1 million.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. At least 4 years of experience, preferably in athletic administration, academic services, or related field. Must have a working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills are needed. Must be computer literate.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience. Competitive.
