COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Maryland freshman Nicole Muracco is the ACC's Field Hockey Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced on Monday. She is the lone player to garner the weekly award multiple times this year, including twice during the month of October.
Last week, the forward from Sewell, N.J., helped No. 1 Maryland finish with a 3-0 record, scoring game-winning goals in both road victories. At Princeton last Tuesday, she tallied the game-tying goal with no time remaining in the first half and then came out in the second period to score the game-winner. In Saturday's 1-0 win at No. 3 Old Dominion, the forward notched the lone goal of the game to lead the Terrapins to their seventh victory over a ranked opponent and the second against ODU this year.
Muracco currently leads the team in goals (14) and game-winning goals (5), with her goals scored and goals per game average (0.88) tying for second among the league's leaders.
The Terps play at home for the remainder of the regular season. Maryland hosts No. 17 American on Wednesday, Oct. 18, then wrap up ACC action on Sunday, Oct. 22 against North Carolina.
