COLLEGE PARK, Md. - No. 2 Maryland field hockey looks forward to another challenging weekend, traveling to 12th-ranked Duke on Saturday, Oct. 6, followed by a home contest on Sunday, Oct. 7 against No. 14 Boston University. Prior to the start of the game against the Terriers, which begins at 2 p.m., Terrapin head coach Missy Meharg will be honored for her 20 years of excellence on the Maryland sidelines.

One of just two undefeated teams remaining in the country, the Terrapins are 12-0 entering the weekend, tying the best start to a season in the program's history. Maryland started 12-0 last year to set the record. The Terps have also won their last 16 games, dating back to the first round of last season's NCAA Tournament.

It has been a team effort for Duke, who enters the weekend 7-5. Ten different players have scored this season, with Marian Dickinson leading the Blue Devils with six goals. She also has a team-leading six assists. Duke is on a two-game win streak, winning one-goal games over then-No. 10 Boston College and No. 14 Boston University, bouncing back from a 5-0 loss to No. 1 North Carolina.

Maryland is led by freshman Katie O'Donnell (Blue Bell, Pa.), who has scored 12 goals and 12 assists so far this season. She is ranked in the top three in the nation in goals, assists and points, leading the nation with 3.00 points per game. Junior Susie Rowe (London, England) and sophomore Nicole Muracco (Sewell N.J.) both tallied their double-digit goals last week. Muracco is second on the team with 11 goals and Rowe is third with 10.

Senior Kathryn Masson (Richmond, British Columbia) is second in the nation in goals against average at 0.78. Along with fellow goaltender Alicia Grater (Gilbertsville, Pa.), the Maryland defense boasts a 0.66 GAA, which also ranks second in the nation.

Boston University is 9-3 and plays Fairfield on Friday night. The Terriers had a six-game win streak snapped with an overtime loss to the Blue Devils, 3-2, last weekend. Their other two losses have come to Boston College and Michigan State, both of which are ranked in the top 10.

Maryland head coach Missy Meharg will be coaching in her 444th and 445th games of her career. She enters the weekend with a 339-95-9 record, ranked among the top 20 coaches in NCAA history in wins. Her .775 winning percentage is also among the top 20 among all-time NCAA field hockey coaches. She has led the Terrapins to four national championships, including the last two in 2005 and 2006. Her players have earned 70 All-American citations and two of her players were selected Honda Award National Players of the Year three times.

Both games this weekend are schedule to be broadcast by the University of Maryland's WMUC and can be heard on www.wmucsports.com. Admission and parking to Sunday's game are free.
