POSITION TITLE: Associate Athletic Director for Business
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Full-time, Exempt
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Athletic Director for Business reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for assisting the Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Chief Financial Officer in the overall financial management of a $60 million budget. This includes authority for approving all transactions (i.e. purchase orders, check request, payroll, etc.) Serve as the department's liaison with the Comptroller's office, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, and the University of Maryland College Park Foundation. Oversees the Athletic Department's Fundraising Accounts held in two Foundations with regards to deposits, disbursements and account reconciliation. Serves as custodian of the Athletic Departments $100,000 working fund, which includes monitoring the disbursements from the fund and subsequent reimbursements from the State of Maryland. Assists coaches and administrators in overall management of their budgets. Responsible for assignments of duties and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to State policy and audit guidelines for the Business Office. Assists the Sr. Associate Athletic Director/Chief Financial Officer with monthly evaluation of the department's financial position and forecast. Annually completes EADA report required by the Federal Government to monitor compliance with Title IX and annual NCAA financial report. Continually leads the Business Office with streamlining policies and procedures to be more effective and efficient at retrieving and reporting data. Assists with travel plans for Football and is required to travel with the team. Position may also assist with travel plans for Men's Basketball during post season and may travel with that team as well.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business, with an emphasis in Finance or accounting. Master's degree in Business or Athletic Administration preferred. Minimum five years of experience in fiscal management, preferably in a Division IA athletic environment. Working knowledge of spreadsheet software, Paciolan. Prefer prior experience supervising full time personnel and insuring adequate control and segregation of duties.
