MADISON, Wis. - Freshman Jessica Hollandsworth tied for the best round of the day with a 1-under-par 71 Sunday to finish in a tie for second individually at the Badger Invitational women's golf tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin.

Hollandsworth, playing in only her second tournament as a collegian, finished the 54-hole event with a 2-over-par total of 218 following rounds of 74 and 73 on Saturday. She finished just three strokes behind medalist Jessie Gerry of Wisconsin, who used a second-round 66 to tie the school record on the University Ridge Golf Course. Chelsea Curtis of Georgetown also tied for second after a 74 on Sunday.

As a team, the Terrapins tied for seventh with the Hoyas with a 929 total after each team shot 311 in Sunday's final round.

California, ranked 15th in the Golfweek preseason poll, fired a 296 team total to earn the victory on Sunday. The Bears won by 13 shots over host Wisconsin, with Minnesota in third at 908.

Also for Maryland, Hilary Lawson tied for 26th individually at 233 following a 79 on Sunday, with Lara Peffley shooting 77 Sunday to post a 239 total and a tie for 46th. Lauren Varnas tied for 55th at 242, with Alexis Holmes in 61st at 246.

Maryland plays next in the Spider Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond on Oct. 13 and 14.
