Maryland and West Virginia to Face Off in 2012-13 On Gridiron

    COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland and West Virginia University will face each other on the football field in four consecutive seasons beginning in 2010 after the schools agreed on another two-year deal.

    The teams are already scheduled to meet in the 2010 and 2011 seasons and will now play in 2012 and 2013.

    The Terps will have home games in 2011 and 2013 and travel to Morgantown, W.Va., in 2010 and 2012.

    Maryland and West Virginia last met on the gridiron in 2007 with the fourth-ranked Mountaineers winning 31-14 in Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium.

    The series has been close throughout the years with the Mountaineers holding a 23-21-2 advantage. WVU snapped a Maryland four-game winning streak with victories in the last four meetings.

    Maryland opens the 2009 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at California, a matchup which completes a two-game series.

    The newly-expanded Tyser Tower will officially open at the first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 12 vs. James Madison. The renovated towers include 64 luxury suites, and over 400 new mezzanine seats.
