COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terrapins will compete as a team for the first time this spring season at College of Charleston's Pinehurst Spring Challenge March 22 through March 23. Maryland joins 17 other teams in competition on Monday and Tuesday on the Pinehurst #6 Course.

Teams will play the first two rounds of the 72-par, 6,004 yard course on Monday and finish the final 18 holes Tuesday. Results will be posted online at www.cofcsports.com by 9 p.m. ET each day.

Several members of the Maryland women's golf team participated in the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. Sophomore Christine Shimel had the best performance amongst the Terrapins tying for ninth place with a nine-over-par 225 (73-73-75). Last year the tournament was cancelled due to rain.

Other teams participating in the tournament are Campbell, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Florida State, Illinois, James Madison, Minnesota, UNC Greensboro, N.C. State, Princeton, Richmond, SMU, Western Carolina and Wofford.
