Scouting The Terps
Maryland is currently ranked No. 3 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches poll. The Terrapins are coming off of their seventh national title, ninth ACC title, and a 23-1 overall record last year.
Most recently, the Terps held off No. 8 Duke, 2-1, behind senior Jemma Buckley's two goals and goalkeeper Melissa Vassalotti's seven saves.
Fifth-year senior goalkeeper Melissa Vassalotti was named ACC Player of the Week Tuesday for her seven-save performance against the Blue Devils. Three of her saves came in the final 8:15 to preserve the Terrapins' one-goal lead. It is the first weekly honor of her career.
The Terps have now been ranked in the top three in the country for 72 consecutive weeks, dating back to Nov. 2, 2004, when they were ranked No. 5.

Maryland has won its last nine straight games heading into Friday's contest. Old Dominion was the last team to beat the Terps on Sept. 2.
Scouting The Monarchs
Old Dominion is 12-0 overall. The Monarchs are ranked No. 1 in the latest Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches poll.
Most recently, the Monarchs beat Drexel, 2-1, in Philadelphia. Drexel took a 1-0 lead just 71 seconds into the game, but Stephanie Kratzer tied it up in the 14th minute. Maartje van Rijswijk scored the game-winner in the 44th minute.
Then-No. 12 Old Dominion beat then-No. 1 Maryland, 4-0, on Sept. 2 in Norfolk. The Monarchs outshot the Terps 11-10, but the Terps held ODU to just one penalty corner. Emma Batten had a hat trick in the game.
Prior to the matchup earlier this season, Maryland had won the last 12 straight meetings, dating back to 2005. The Terps own the all-time series 26-23-1.
Play the Best
Due to being in the toughest conferences in the nation, the Terrapins play one of the strongest schedules in the country.
Four of the six ACC schools are in the top 20 of this week's Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. North Carolina (13-1, 3-0 ACC) is ranked No. 2, while Duke (8-5, 2-2 ACC) comes in ranked No. 7. Boston College (8-5, 1-3 ACC) comes in at No. 11. Virginia (6-9, 0-2 ACC) and Wake Forest (4-8, 0-3 ACC) are receiving votes.
The Terps will battle nine of the 16 teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. So far, Maryland is 6-1 against those teams.
Maryland will play 12 of the 20 teams ranked in the preseason top 20 and is currently 7-1 vs preseason ranked teams.

Meharg Named ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine Top 20 Recruiter
Terrapin head coach Missy Meharg was named one of college athletics' top 20 recruiters by ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine in January.
"ESPNU AND THE MAGAZINE asked an all-star panel a seemingly simple question: Who are the top 20 recruiters in college sports? We spoke with three dozen experts, from Mag college football Insider Bruce Feldman to volleyball legend Karch Kiraly to women's World Cupper Cat Whitehill. Turns out, baseball coaches aren't the only ones pulling roster magic from a hat half-filled with scholarships."
