Seniors Jemma Buckley and Melissa Vassalotti of the third-ranked Maryland field hockey team were selected to compete in the NFHCA Senior Game, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Terrapin seniors are two of 20 of the nation's most talented seniors invited to participate. They seniors will face off against the U.S. National Squad and each other on Nov. 19 at the University of Louisville. The seniors and Team USA will play four, 25-minute segments.
Buckley was named an NFHCA All-American and to the All-ACC team last season. This year, she leads the Terps in goals with 18 and with 42 points.
Vassalotti has seen action in 50 career games and has notched 122 career saves. This year, she was named ACC Player of the Week the week of Oct. 11.
The Terrapins will play host to the ACC Tournament this weekend. They are the two-seed and will play either third-seeded Duke or sixth-seeded Virginia Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. The Blue Devils and the Cavaliers play Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
