POSITION TITLE:                Assistant Director of Development

 

DEPARTMENT:                    Intercollegiate Athletics

UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as  the  #2 “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine. Currently, 73 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:        Reporting to Associate Executive Director of the Terrapin Club, the Assistant Director will work as a member of the Terrapin Club staff, assisting with the identification and solicition of prospects to increase membership in the Terrapin Club.  Responsibilities include assisting with membership campaigns and marketing initiatives (including use of social media); assisting with staff support for a Terrapin Club board committee; coordinating involvement of volunteers in membership recruitment activities and Young Terps programming for recent graduates; overseeing involvement of current University students through the Student Terrapin Club; providing customer service to donors, including the administration of donor benefits; planning and implementing fund raising and stewardship events; and serving as development staff liaison to selected teams for fund raising and alumni relation purposes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required.  At least two years of related work experience, preferably in a collegiate athletics development office or other fund raising environment.  Must have strong written and oral communication skills.  Ability to clearly and concisely present information to a diverse group of potential and current donors, volunteers, and campus employees.  Computer literacy with Word, Excel, Paciolan, Photoshop, the internet and social media (twitter, Facebook and YouTube) is preferred.  Attendance at most home football and men's basketball games required.  Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.  Some travel required.

 

SALARY:       Commensurate with experience.
