No. 3 Maryland field hockey will play host to ACC foe Wake Forest Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. The Terps head into the matchup looking for their 100th win at the Complex since it opened in 2003.

Parking and Game Info
Due to a 12:30 p.m. home football game, all fans will be charged $15 to park in the lots surrounding the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
If fans are planning to travel to campus on Saturday, please consider using Quick Bus to avoid the traffic congestion. You can take the Quick Bus from the College Park Metro Station to Lot Q, which is very close to Byrd Stadium. It runs every 20 minutes three hours prior to kick-off, and every 10 minutes two hours prior to kick-off from the College Park Metro station to Lot Q. Quick Bus also runs back to the College Park Metro Station from Lot Q for one hour after the end of the football game.
Quick Bus is also available from lots 4, 9, and 11 (near the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex), and from Lot 16 (frat row). For more information, log on to http://www.transportation.umd.edu/fballParking.html.

Scouting The Terps
Maryland is currently ranked No. 3 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches poll. The Terrapins are coming off of their seventh national title, ninth ACC title, and a 23-1 overall record last year.
The Terrapins have won their last five straight games and most recently, won at No. 8 Boston College, 4-3, in overtime Friday and at UMass, 4-1, Sunday.
Freshman Maxine Fluharty was named ACC Player of the Week Tuesday. She helped lead the Terrapins to their first ACC win of the season, when she scored twice at Boston College. In the 78th minute, the tipped in a pass from Jemma Buckley for the game-winning goal.. It is the first weekly honor for Fluharty in her career.
Junior defender Colleen Gulick notched her fourth defensive save of the year vs. the Minutewomen. She leads the ACC and is third in the nation in defensive stops.
The Terrapins have won their last 12 straight ACC regular season games, dating back to Oct. 11, 2008, when they lost to Duke.
Scouting the Demon Deacons
Wake Forest is 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the ACC so far this season. The Demon Deacons are receiving votes in the latest Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches poll.

The Demon Deacons are coming off of a 2-1 overtime loss at No. 2 North Carolina last weekend. Wake Forest's Taylor Rhea tied the game at one each in the 40th minute. UNC's Loren Shealy scored in the 85th minute for the Tar Heel win. The game did not count as a conference game, as the two teams will play again Sept. 30 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Maryland owns the all-time series, 26-11. The two teams last met in the 2010 ACC Semifinals. Maryland won 5-4 off of Jemma Buckley's goal in the second overtime period. The Terps beat Wake Forest for the 2008 and 2006 national titles. Wake Forest won the 2002, 2003 and 2004 NCAA championships.
Home Sweet Home
Since its opening in 2003, the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has provided the Maryland hockey program a huge home field advantage.
The Terps are 99-9 (.917) all-time at the Complex.
Maryland is currently on a 35-game home win streak. The Terrapins haven't lost at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex since Oct. 11, 2008 in a 3-2 lost to No. 9 Duke.
The Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has played home to 18 of Maryland's NCAA Tournament games, including two Final Fours (2007, 2010). The Terrapins are 17-1 in those games and won the 2010 national title on their home field.
Pack the House
The Maryland field hockey team has increasingly attracted more and more fans to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex season after season.
An NCAA record crowd of 2,381 came out to watch as Maryland beat North Carolina 3-2 in double overtime for the 2010 national championship at the Complex last November.
The Terrapins have led the ACC in attendance for four straight years. In 2010, Maryland averaged over 700 fans per game and 10,572 fans saw the Terps play during the year.
Play the Best
Due to being in the toughest conferences in the nation, the Terrapins play one of the strongest schedules in the country.
Four of the six ACC schools are in the top 20 of this week's Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. North Carolina (6-1, 0-0 ACC) is ranked No. 2, while Boston College (6-2, 0-1 ACC) moved up to No. 6. Duke (5-3, 1-0 ACC) comes in ranked ninth. Virginia (4-5, 0-0 ACC) and Wake Forest are receiving votes.
The Terps will battle nine of the 16 teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. So far, Maryland is 3-1 against those teams.
Maryland will play 12 of the 20 teams ranked in the preseason top 20 and is currently 3-1 vs preseason ranked teams.

Missy Meharg
The 2010 NFHCA National Coach of the Year, Missy Meharg returns for her 24th season at the helm of the prestigious Terrapin field hockey program. Her current career record is 420-103-9 (.798). Below is a breakdown of just a few of her highlights since she took the reins in 1988:

Three Terrapins were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team - Megan Frazer, Harriet Tibble, and Jill Witmer.
Terps Picked to Finish No. 2 in ACC
Maryland was picked to finish second in the ACC, as voted by the league's six head coaches.
The Terrapins received two of the six first-place votes.
The Terps have won the last three straight ACC championships (2008, 2009, 2010), and nine overall.
North Carolina, last year's NCAA and ACC runner-up, was picked to win the league with four of the first-place votes. Virginia came in third and Duke, Wake Forest and Boston College rounded out the standings, respectively.
Terps in Openers
Maryland is 33-3-2 in season openers and the Terps have won their last 15 straight.
The Terrapins haven't opened the season at home in the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex since 2000. They've opened 23 of their 36 seasons on the road.
With their win over Michigan last weekend, the Terps are 9-0 in home openers at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex and have outscored their opponents 37-6 in those nine games.

Meharg Named ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine Top 20 Recruiter
Terrapin head coach Missy Meharg was named one of college athletics' top 20 recruiters by ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine in January.
"ESPNU AND THE MAGAZINE asked an all-star panel a seemingly simple question: Who are the top 20 recruiters in college sports? We spoke with three dozen experts, from Mag college football Insider Bruce Feldman to volleyball legend Karch Kiraly to women's World Cupper Cat Whitehill.
