Darryl Conway and Dr. Yvette Rooks of the Maryland Sports Medicine staff were honored recently by regional outlets.
Conway, assistant athletics director of sports medicine, received the University of Delaware's Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement. The award honors UD graduates of the last 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional careers and/or public service activities. Conway graduated from Delaware in 1993 and started his career as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the New York Jets, a position he held until 1996. After that, he worked at the Delaware, Morgan State, the Northern Iowa, and the Central Florida, before arriving at Maryland in 2004.
Dr. Rooks, Maryland's head team physician, named as one of Baltimore's TOP DOCS for Family Medicine in Baltimore Magazine. Dr. Rooks has been invited as an American Academy of Family Practice Representative to the American College of Cardiology "Sports & Exercise Cardiology Think Tank," which will take place on Oct. 18, 2012.
Dr. Rooks has been with the Maryland Sports Medicine unit since 1998Dr. Rooks graduated from the Upstate Medical School/Health Science Center in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1993. She completed her residency in family medicine and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
