Terps Head to Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

March 14, 2013

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Maryland women's golf team will look to build on it's promising start to the spring this weekend at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate. The 54-hole tournament will tee-off Friday morning at host Augusta State's Forest Hills Golf Club.

Last month, Maryland finished fourth in their first tournament of the season at the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge. Senior Christine Shimel shot a 217 (73-73-71) and finished fourth as an individual at the event.

The Terps will also look to get strong play from junior Emily Gimpel and sophomore Juliet Vongphoumy, who both had top-25 finishes at the tournament in Miami Lakes, Fla.

The Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate features the largest field in the six-year history of the event. In addition to Maryland and hosts Augusta State, the field includes Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Illinois, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lamar, Memphis, Notre Dame, Purdue, Southern Mississippi, Texas, UT San Antonio and Vanderbilt.
