COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The second-ranked Maryland field hockey team (15-2, 6-1 B1G) will host No. 14 Iowa (11-5, 4-3) Saturday at 1 p.m. in the teams' regular season finale. The Terps will honor seniors Brooke Cabrera, Maxine Fluharty, Katie Gerzabek, Welma Luus and Steffi Schneid prior to Saturday's game.

Scouting the Hawkeyes
• Iowa is 11-5 on the year and 4-3 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes are tied with Michigan at No. 14 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches poll. Most recently, they beat No. 4 Penn State, 4-0, on Saturday. Natalie Cafone is leading the Hawkeyes with 18 goals and six assists for 42 points. She is currently the Big Ten's leading scorer.
• Maryland leads the all-time series, 9-3-1, and has won the last five straight matchups since 1995. Most recently, the Terrapins beat No. 12 Iowa, 4-2, in the NCAA First Round in College Park on Nov. 12, 2011. • The last three meetings between the two teams were all in the NCAA Tournament. They met in the 1999 and 2008 Final Fours, which both went to double overtime. The Terps won both of those meetings and went on to win the NCAA title.

• The Terps have been ranked in the top five for the last 20 straight weeks, dating back to the preseason poll in 2013.

2014 Team Captains
• Three players have been named team captains for the 2014 season. Maxine Fluharty, Katie Gerzabek and Sarah Sprink will serve as the team's captains.
"Maxine, Katie and Sarah are a talented dynamic, hardworking leadership trio," head coach Missy Meharg said. "The front field, the midfield, the backfield are represented by these NCAA/FIH experienced players. All have been honored by their leagues and all three represented their countries in the Junior World Cup. They understand that the way we train and prepare puts us in position to win championships in November."

• The Terrapins joined the Big Ten conference this year, after playing in the ACC for 31 years. Big Ten field hockey is now the biggest conference in the history of the sport in the NCAA with nine teams - Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland.
• The Terps are 88-32-3 (.728) all-time against Big Ten opponents.

Since its opening in 2003, the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has provided the Maryland hockey program a huge home field advantage.
• The Terps are 136-15 (.901) all-time at the Complex.
• Maryland won 38 straight games at the Complex from Oct.11, 2008 through Oct. 14, 2011. The streak ended with a 5-2 loss to then-No. 1 Old Dominion.
• The Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has played home to 22 of Maryland's NCAA Tournament games, including two Final Fours (2007, 2010). The Terrapins are 21-1 in those games and won the 2010 national title on their home field.

• The Maryland field hockey team has increasingly attracted more and more fans to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex season after season. The Terrapins have led the nation in attendance since 2010.
• In 2013, Maryland led the country in attendance with 8,176 fans coming out to see the Terrapins. On average, 629 fans came to each game, which was nearly 200 more than North Carolina's average of 438 which was second in the country.
• An NCAA-record crowd of 2,381 came out to watch as Maryland beat North Carolina 3-2 in double overtime for the 2010 national championship at the Complex.

Three Terps Selected To Big Ten Players To Watch List

• Dessoye is Maryland's leading returning scorer, after she notched 13 goals and 16 assists in 2013. Fluharty added 12 goals and seven assists last year, while Gerzabek scored five goals and notched three assists in her 19 games played.
