COLLEGE PARK, Md - The University of Maryland athletic department and the M Club welcomed the eight-member Class of 2014 into the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame at a ceremony in the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center Friday evening.

Men's basketball player Len Bias, men's lacrosse player Bob Boneillo, track & field/football player Edward G. Cooke, field hockey and women's lacrosse player Maureen 'Bean' Scott Dupcak, women's lacrosse player Alex Kahoe, women's basketball player Debbie Lytle, athletic trainer Sandy Worth and football player Charlie Wysocki were inducted.

Comcast SportNet's Chick Hernandez hosted the ceremony.

"Tonight is a look back at our 'Proud Past,'” said Kevin Glover, Executive Director of the M Club. “It is a great celebration and an evening everyone looks forward to."

The M Club also presented Honorary M Club Awards to Colin Potts, Leonard Raley, Rosalie Reggettz and Bob 'Turtle' Smith for their longtime dedication to Maryland athletics.

In her remarks, Scott Dupcak spoke to the closeness of her team.

"I was dropped into greatness with all of the outstanding coaches.  They were demanding, innovative and inspired us to be the very best. But most of all they were my friends."

A fellow lacrosse player, Boneillo described the opportunity his time in College Park gave him.

“We would break the huddle and say: "Be the Best," Boneillo said. "This is what the University of Maryland provided us - an opportunity to get an outstanding education and to compete in a sport we love."

Founded in 1982 by the M Club and developed as a collaborative effort with the Athletics Department, the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame pays tribute to those superior Terrapin athletes, coaches and administrators who have made major contributions to the honor and fame of the University of Maryland, and have continued to demonstrate the positive values learned through competing in intercollegiate sports. Induction into the Hall of Fame represents the highest athletic honor the University can bestow.
